My wife and I did have an LSU-Florida wedding, but we did it correctly. The game was in Gainesville and none of my LSU friends or UF family (sister-in-law) were going to the game. We got married Friday evening instead of on game day and had a party Saturday night for all who had traveled to Houston with kegs and LSU Florida decor at the hotel. Good fun was had by all. I had some UF "associates" hard to call UF fans friends, that politely declined to come and I totally understood and was proud of them. They still sent nice gifts. :geaux:
playing devils advocate here, but outdoor weddings are horrible in the summer... just too hot and the chance of rain too great. fall is the most opportune time, aside from spring, but either way if you're getting married during football season you're an idiot. actually, screw weddings! i went to one last season to show my face, but i left before the game anyway. if it's an evening, away game it's not so bad other than missing all kinds of other games -- something i'm not too fond of anyhow. boy i sure am glad my sister is a big LSU fan. however, my best friend i graduated high school with, not so much. and she's having a fall, outdoor wedding. not even sure of the date or season yet, but hopefully it will be either a bye week or an irrelevant game or something. or perhaps during the week, or friday or sunday. :cry:
No such thing. At best, we only get to see our team play for around 40 hours a year. I can't see any of those few hours as being irrelevant. You are just trying to make excuses for yourself to go to the wedding if it falls on a game day. To make yourself feel better.
I had surgery the week before our anniversary trip last month, so we had to reschedule it for the end of this month and beginning of next month. I'll be in Gatlinburg for the opener, but she told me we can go to a bar and watch it Saturday night. Only downside, I'll miss the Tenn game because we have to go see Chelsea Handler in Nola. Don't get married.
