You ever hear about those Muslims that riot in the streets and blow stuff up because some dude draws a picture of Mohamed. That is you.
When I said I'm sure someone would correct me...I was talking about you. :yelwink2: However (and this is a rarity) you are wrong. At least about the West Florida Republic. The rebellion was in 1810, the republic lasted 90 days. The area was annexed on October 27, 1810 by a proclamation of James Madison. So they were annexed 2 years before Louisiana became a state. Some how I didn't now about the Vermont Republic and I forgot about the California Republic. As a History Major, I am embarrassed. In addition, the Texas reserving the right to succeed is apparently an Urban Legend that a Texan told me once upon a time and I accepted as true. Silly Texans.
I get that, but did you swore to protect a piece of cloth? I would never in a million years burn a flag, but I love freedom, so I respect the right to do it, even though I disagree with it. Maybe, but I don't think flag burning would be one of them. Then you sir, are undermining the very freedom you swore to protect and, in a way, are also dishonoring those that have fallen protecting that freedom, even more so then the flag burners. I know you probably don't see it that way, but you're condoning violence to suppress freedom. That's what middle eastern dictators do.
Strange though. When I’m picturing someone burning a copy of the declaration, I don’t really have any strong feelings at all. There is the compromise; people should burn a copy of the declaration when they feel their rights are being violated and not the flag. Good compromise in my opinion, let’s all get on the “burn the declaration not the flag” team and call it a day.
If you're going there, why would burning the declaration be a statement of rights? Burning the Bill of Rights makes more sense. Come to think of it........nah, I'm not going to go there.
Well, come to think of it…the following are ok to burn in my opinion if you are unhappy with the gov’ment. 1) Picture of the person that pissed you off 2) Replica of the Statue of liberty (she is French anyway) 3) Replica of the White House (heck they already blew it up in multiple movies) 4) Declaration or the Bill of Rights ( copies of course) 5) Bras (I just hope the burner is perky) Things not ok... 1) Picture of the Twin Towers (too soon) 2) American Flag 3) Replica of a soldier (it aint their fault)
