Watch what happens if we lose. If it is with Jefferson Les will be an idiot for letting him play given all the distractions caused by pending legal actions. If it is with Lee or Mett he will be an idiot for playing them when he has stated Jefferson is the best of the three. You have to remember, we are talking about LSU fans here. Some among us call for Les's head for not winning by enough.
of course. this would happen anywhere and tenfold when its a team with nc expectations. fans will blame the coach for a loss in some form or fashion. why you think this is unique here is very shortsighted.
ill set the line at jefferson playing at -130 not playing +100. ie, hes going to play. wont go to trial? -150 on this one.
It's a slippery slope... If Les Miles suspends Jefferson for fighting before all the facts are in, then isn't that just what Alleva's line of thought was in the Duke scandal? What if Jefferson is completely exonerated like the Duke lacrosse players? If Les suspends all four for fighting and, say two of them are innocent...well? If Les suspends all four for fighting isn't that an implication of guilt and could it affect the four's criminal and civil cases? If Les suspends the four for breaking curfew, would he have to suspend fifty or more other players for the same reason? So I think it behooves Coach Miles not to jump the gun. Like he said, strong action will be taken at the appropriate time I don't think much will come of it until the police are finished with their investigation. ...and even then it goes to the District attorney Doug Moreau's office.
Great points Steve. And it it is a lengthy investigation, it could end up spilling over past the Oregon game. What does Coach do in that instance? If JJ (and others) are suspended for Northwestern instead, how will that look? Not good, I can tell you that. I don't envy Coach Miles.
