I was reading on another site yesterday and was so ashamed at how some of our fans were treating duck fans online. I was actually ashamed and left the site. All I ever do is read because I don't want to be chit on by punks hiding behind a keyboard. I can only imagine how those little pricks act when they're drunk and in a crowd of friends. I will make 41 tomorrow and I don't remember my friends or myself acting like that when we were 20. I don't understand why people act like they do. If the duck fans were being azzholes maybe SOME of what they were saying would be ok but almost all the duck fans were not deserving of the insults. It makes us look bad. All of us. My family and your family all look bad when young little asshats act disrespectful to others for all to see. I hate it. My dad didn't raise me to be that way and my boy won't be that way either. Pissed off going to bed.
You know, this is the second time I am seeing you reference specifically Nola LSU fans, as if they are some sort of separate entity. I am from New Orleans, born and raised, have many NOLA friends who went to LSU, and I really don't know what the heck you are talking about? Most of us were pretty typical fans. Sure, we had our immature moments, but I have certainly experienced much worse, and for the most part we were always curious and cordial with other fan bases. Take your egocentric generalities somewhere else. You must realize that LSU fans from Nola are actually on this forum and reading your posts, right?
I'm not worried about the sooner fanbase, they're worse than bama. At least they don't hate us the way arky fans do.
Most Oklahoma fans have only the BCS Championship for reference. Had they won the game they probally wouldn't have the same opinion of LSU fans. They had been crowned champs all season and had the Heisman winner and thought they had the crystal ball locked up. LSU abused them and their half of the Dome was completely empty before the last seconds ticked off the clock. They were upset and many have labeled our fanbase as jerks. Most of our fans are knowledgeable classy fans. The alcohol turns some of the immature kids into asses but to label our entire fanbase as jerks is unfair. I wonder if they believe Bob Stoops is an ass. He can be a real jerk sober. I wonder how he would act if drunk.
I've been to my share of Saints and LSU games, and IMO I think the LSU fans at Tiger Stadium are as much if not more obnoxious than NOLA fans. Probably has alot to do with college kids and what not. There's alot more chest beating toward opposing fans at Tiger Stadium than the Superdome. Except for FAILcons fans of course, but then again, I don't mind abusing them a little.
Yeah, I am with you, and I get the connection of OU v LSU in the Dome. But, that game was attended by LSU fans from all over, not just NOLA. To qualify that by comparing Nola LSU fans vs BR LSU fans is silly, and trying to say that OU fans would have a different experience is silly. Lets be clear, all variables the same, and LSU beats OU in Tiger Stadium, those OU fans would have not had any different of an experience. Just as many LSU fans, from whereever, would have been loaded and been heckling them, I am sure.
I was so embarrassed last night when I walked out of the stadium and saw a couple of drunk tiger fans throwing their beers to the leaving duck fans and calling them "b*tches" or something even worse. I was also impressed by the dignity and manners that duck fans have shown after losing a heart-breaking game. Two duck fans walked through the crowd with smile on their face while some drunk LSU fans kept insulting them with F words. Some people just need to be schooled on how to perform when they are standing as a winner. Bad first impressions are so hard to be erased over time.
Don't take it personally. It's more about the environment than the people. Being in NOLA, after a game like that, you're just asking for shenanigans and bad behavior. But, at a tailgate at LSU, it's controlled and more of a family atmosphere. There won't be too many families and kids on Bourbon street to restrain fans after a national championship win.
Every fanbase has their fair share of drunk idiots, but a big drinking school like LSU in a big drinking state like Louisiana tends to have more
