The Silmarillion is more of a history lesson. There are lots of stories/battles that would be very cool on the big screen, but would need lots of filler.

Well Christopher was the one who put some of his works together right? Why would he not allow a movie?

Sunnyjim was right . . . reading the Silmarillion is like reading the Bible. Lots of funny names and and an outline of a backstory that has none of the material needed for a narrative novel.

The Tolkein family should authorize some very good authors to write new novels based on the Silmarillion.

He cannot accept anything that deviates one tiny bit from the original text.

All true, but Morgoth is a cool villain.

Peter Jackson wanted to meet him and basically gave the ole F U. Like Red said he is completely literal and did a few interviews blasting new line and Peter Jackson.

Very true but you could say that about a lot of the stuff Peter Jackson did. But isn't Galadriel basically a Noldor with with a ring of power? I would think she would be more powerful than the Nazgul because of her ring. Also doesn't she give her ring to Gandalf?
