Transliteration doesn't work that way. There are not really established spellings. I could start it with an e or an I and go lots of different directions. Spelling works your way if I were using words with the same characters, not words written in Arabic or Chinese, which are literally not English words with proper spellings and are only spelled out for English speakers to try to pronounce them. Like Peking and Beijing. They are the same word. Same with Calcutta/Kolkata and Mumbai/Bombay and Chungking/chongqing.
