1. She's the nominee. It's over.
  2. Just leave me with a little hope will you? ;) My next forlorn hope is that she'll be indicted.

  3. Sanders is winning Nevada.

Winston is correct, this will spur Sanders on in SC. It will be much closer than most people think.

  4. No Clinton!

The idea of blocking Obama from nominating a justice seems like BS.
  5. I think Scalia was a turd but if you are the President I think you go to the funeral. Obama didn't. He probably isn't the first President that didn't attend the funeral of a Justice but I think they should have too. I don't think this is a good move by Obama.
  6. Attending funerals is in the job description of the VP.
  7. The Veep goes if it's the funeral for the Emperor of Vomitovia or the High Loon of Wackystan. For a SCOTUS justice the prez should attend.

  8. Only 4 of the last 7 funerals for a Supreme Court Justice have had either the President or the VP. Clinton attended 3, but missed 2. He was present at former Chief Justice Warren E. Burger’s and Justice William Brennan’s funerals. He did not attend Justices Harry Blackmun or Lewis F. Powell Jr.’s funerals. He and Former Vice President Al Gore both attended Justice Thurgood Marshall’s. Former President George W. Bush did not attend Justice Byron White’s funeral.

However, attending a sitting Justice’s funeral is viewed by some as being completely different in significance. This may be the first time in the last 65 years that a current president skipped the funeral of a sitting Justice, although early records are not completely clear. Scalia is the only justice to have died in office since Chief Justice William Rehnquist, who passed away in 2005. Bush attended Rehnquist’s funeral and said the eulogy. When Chief Justice Fred M. Vinson died in 1953, Dwight D. Eisenhower was photographed at his funeral.

Obama did pay his respects on Friday at the SC while Scalia laid in repose (although it was only 2 minutes). I have to wonder whether or not Scalia's family would even want Obama at the funeral. Scalia was a devout Catholic and conservative. He stood for and believed in everything that Obama does not. I get the feeling somehow, that Scalia himself would not have wanted Barackmed to be there. OTOH, if it turns out the Obama was golfing......fuck him.

  9. It's a respect thing, it has nothing to do with Obama and everything to do with the Presidency in my opinion. Like him or not.

  10. If I look for posts where you showed respect for George W Bush will I find any?
