1. Hook up your laptop or whatever straight into your modem and perform a speed test. If you are below your 100mps then you should demand a refund and tell them to fix it.

If you are hooked up and are at 100mbs then run a speed test with your phone using wifi. If you are way under the 100mbs then you have a router issue. Not likely you would get exactly 100mbs using wifi and it should decrease the further your device is from the router.

Another thing to test is what device may be causing a drain on your wifi in your home. Disconnect all your devices and add them one by one to see what device could be causing the issue.
  2. How do yall figure that Mbps out? And I surely don't understand the ping up and ping down.
  3. I use the speed test app by Ookla which is downloaded on all my devices. That will tell you the Mbps for downloads which in this case should be 100. It will also show the Upload Mbps. Not sure what his plan is for that but it is always much lower like 10 or 20mbps. Will also show the ping.
  4. Even Forrest Gump knew about pinging and ponging
  5. I've done all that, from the router and the modem, and that's where I get the results from. I get faster speeds from my router than straight through the modem. And this is the 4th modem they have given us, everything from the tap to the modem is brand new.
  6. hell no.

must be a lot of kids in your neighborhood. out for summer playing video games and streaming porn all night.
  7. Are you allowed to supply your own modem and drop the rental fees? Your modem directly connected to the enthernet port should be at 100 or you are getting ripped off.

What were your readings on each?

Can you not supply your own router as well?
  8. how much is a leased line nowadays.
  9. This is the 4th new modem. Router is mine.
