Getting Randy Livingston here would definitely be a plus for this basketball team. Hopefully, Tack can get it together as a point guard, since he hasn't been with the team for only 2 games, and we go down to Storrs, CT and upset the mighty UCONN Huskies.
Interesting thread here.... Brady wants a raise you people! Edit to add link!
Only Problem i have is Brady didnt recruit these players b/c he cant recruit all of these players recruited each other they have been playing with each other in AAU/just shooting around or against each other since Darnell and Tyrus 1st went to Mckinley Middle and Brandon Bass & Big Baby went to Capital Middle and battled for the Middle School Championship. If anybody should get the credit it should be Butch Pierre or Temple Sr. not brady
That's true, there was never really any doubt where most of those players were going when they were younger. It's not hard to get those guys when they are literally right in the backyard.
Yeah, it's interesting what many of us seem to spot some time ago. It's always interesting going back and rereading old threads for a little history. A couple of points here about recruiting, in response to some of these threads... First, you look back at what's happened in the last recruiting year. One point here is that Brady couldn't recruit out of his backyard. That's an interesting statement considering that this past year, Brady landed arguably the #2 player out of Texas, a pretty strong guy out of Canada, and one of the better JUCO players out of Texas. So, the final four helped legitimize the program and we were able to leverage that into a few good signings. That said, I still think the staff has some issues in New Orleans, and now after a subpar season, the shortfalls in recruiting are magnified. When Nikita Johnson was added a few years ago that was supposed to help. We still haven't landed a very top notch N.O. guy in a while. That's got to change if LSU really wants to own LA. I've really said that the next year will be key for this staff's recruiting grade. With another chance to land some good players, including Marcus Thorton, a few '08 guards, and some good forwards on the radar, it'll be an interesting off season.
Marcus Thorton grad of Tara High who has said already he wants to play for LSU before he went to Juco he had scholarships to go to other schools but b/c LSU told him to go to a Juco and when he finished there he would have a scholarship. Also another close friend with da boys played 5A ball against Woodlawn and Denham. Also not saying this guy is not going to be good BUT how many players come out of Canada? last guy that was good from up North but it was Alaska T.Langdon from Duke the sharpshooter.Only person who Brady went after himself is Ben Voogd we all Know he cant say lets play ball But yeah i gotta give it to the Final Four and Pierre/Temple Sr. Tweety who starts at Baylor told me one reason why he wasnt coming was LSU doesnt let the point guard score when they want and have the "GREEN LIGHT" and they dont let you make mistakes stating when you make 1 Brady pulls you right out.. he said look what they did to Torris Bright and Tack who scored alot in their High School days
I am surprised everyone seems to feel Brady is a top recruiter. I for one have never been overly impressed with his recruiting skills, but I am willing to admit I may not be doing him justice.
I use to question it but I think he is a great recruiter of the front court or maybe its just luck, I don't know. One things for sure, he don't recruit very many guards at all and certainly not great ones. This team has had the same problem the last few years with lack of guards and perimeter shooters. But then again what the hell do I know? Brady made it to the final four with no outside shots against Duke and whoever else. Maybe Brady just is lucky?
Randolph is really the only player I give the staff a lot of credit for signing. None of those other players had any other scholarship offers according to Scout. Therefore, since I don't trust Brady and Co.'s talent evaluation skills, I have absolutely no reason to believe that Wright, THornton, or Green will be anything other than Alex Farrers at best. The staff gets no credit from me for nationally recruiting players whom noone is interested in. We blew it on Reynolds and Arthur this year, which are the only kids that, legitimately, you could point to a Final Four appearance and say, "Here, we got these kids we wouldn't have had a chance in hell on otherwise".
