Is it really a CERTAINTY that Miles would leave LSU for Michigan if Carr left...

and he was offered the position?

I know Carr isn't leaving this year. Hell, he hasn't even said anything to the effect that he wants to leave anytime soon. Maybe he'll get the boot if he keeps losing to OSU and losing bowl games.

I just keep reading/hearing from LSU fans and CFB fans in general, that Miles would take the job in a new york minute. I'm aware that he's an alum, but there are plenty of guys coaching at schools other than their alma mater. Maybe, I've bought into his embracing of our state hook, line, and sinker, but I wouldn't be so sure he would leave. He's having great years, doing very well, most of the hold outs have finally warmed up to him. I just don't see why he would leave a team that is talent wise and playing as an elite program just to go to Michigan.

If he feels comfortable here, and is enjoying it as much as it seems these days, I really don't see him leaving a few years later if that job were offered to him. LSU might have to pony up some more dough, but call me crazy, I think he's got so much going for him here, enough to make him not want to leave to start all over again at another school. Yes, Michigan has great history and is still a good program but changing your job/routine takes a lot of energy and a lot of incentive.

What do yall think about it if these circumstances came to bear in say 2 years and both programs are doing about the same as they are now?

PS: I want to make it 100% clear, I do NOT want him to leave, he's OUR coach, and he's embraced us and our state even when there was still a not so quiet part of the fan-base that wasn't on board.

I bring this up only b/c I read/hear it from others, and it's surprising to me b/c it hasn't even been on the radar for me. And yes, I'm aware there is a bigger buy out for Mich but its pennies in today's college ball. Finally, lets not debate the finer points of whether he would be offered the job, this is purely hypothetical.

You really need to lay off the Kool-Aid. No one has said anything about Miles leaving. Not the sports commentators, the newspapers, the sports web sites or television. Just you. I have to ask WHY BRING IT UP? Are you so bored you felt the need to light a match in the powder magazine?

christ sakes, please re-read what I wrote. VERY CAREFULLY. I didn't say I thought it would happen. And I wasn't talking about sports commentators, I was simply talking about the things I've heard from some fans (most not LSU). However, it wasn't like they were trying to take a shot at LSU, it is simply minor point I've heard brought up (not that often, but it has), as in I wasn't being flamed by someone or they weren't just trying to get a rise out of me, just friendly sharing of CFB type of stuff...

and no, I have not read this on this particular board, I follow CFB pretty closely at the conference and national level so I naturally converse with fans of teams from coast to coast. Over 6 months until kickoff bud, better get used to threads that throw out all kinds of rumors, hypotheses, and impulsive rants, it's all we have until September.

ETA: I love it, you're basically telling me that I'm sitting here lying about having read and heard someone mention this. Again, I'm not saying this is some hot rumor on ESPN, just something I've heard in conversation once or twice and read from other fans a few times... Or maybe you're right, I just decided I would start this all by myself, make the whole thing up myself, and post it on a forum I frequent and contribute to, and enjoy being a part of.

as I just stated in the previous post, I can't really remember it being discussed here... I don't know what you mean by "the rant"... so no, I have not been frequenting it.

IF and WHEN Miles leaves, I hope it is after Bertman retires. If Bertman is still around, we will see the discount coaching search again, instead of hiring a top guy for top money.

imo CLM is quietly building something special in BR. will he leave someday? it may be easier to win one of these :crystal: in the big 2, but the challenge is not nearly as great as it is in SEC. i think he relishes the challenge, and think he has very specific goals to accomplish before he feels he's ready to move on.

If Miles reached a high level of success, even like getting a :crystal: as Saban did, and was quite comfortable in his position with the dynasty he created or maintained, and IF his family was very happy here, would he bother to pick up and start all over? My point is that had Saban had the "crystal ball"--no punts:grin: , knowing what awaited him in Miami had he moved, my guess is that he probably would have stayed put for a long time here.
