1. Everything has to break right to win a championship. Road games against, Tenn, Auburn, Fla., and Ark. is a tough road. We lost a game in 03 and still won it all. Auburn ran the table the next year and didn't. And all the talk about their soft non con. is bull. It wouldn't have mattered who they played out of con. they wern't going to pass USC and O.K.

Two years and 22-4, and top five recruiting classes is success, period.

Also remember, the game plan was to conservitive agaisnt AU but we did get HOSED by the officials. Also, Miles and staff adjusted everytime they lost and we didn't make the same mistakes over and over again.

Also, Saban made mistakes also. Give Miles time before we say he underachived.
  2. How much talent did the "Team of the Century" 2003 Sooners have? How much talent did the "Team of the Millenium" 2005 Trojans have? How much talent did the "Team that can't be beat by Michigan" 2006 Buckeyes have?

It's nice to have the benefit of hindsight and nail the heads exactly where you want them.
  3. In all honesty, Miles has overachieved.

He seems to have done much more than Saban did with the time Miles has had to adjust.

If back to back BCS bowl wins aren't enough, nothing will be.

I wish Mississippi State or Bama could some day have the success that LSU is having right now.
  4. I nail all my heads that way...
  5. In my opinion, any team that doesn't go undefeated and pulverize every opponent they play underachieved. But this is college football and that doesn't happen especially with the parity in the game now. These are college students and are more than likely gonna make many mistakes or play a bad game so you really can't expect them to always be perfect.
  6. Florida may have been #1 in draft...

Gators leads nation with 9 picks

Florida beat Ohio State -- again.

Six Gators were taken on the second day of the NFL draft, giving the national champions nine players selected in the seven rounds, the most of any school. The runner-up with eight picks was Ohio State, which lost to the Gators in the BCS title game in January.

  7. I certainly don't think LSU underachieved considering our schedule last year. Were any of our games un-winnable because of lack of talent? Of course not. But Auburn and Florida were stacked with talent too. There is a lot more to it than talent as anyway. Great players have off days. I think the Auburn loss was due to conservative play calling and some of the worst officiating I have ever seen. The Florida loss was due to players flat out not executing. I don't know if they all got drunk the night before or what but they looked like they just didn't show up for the game. If a couple tings went different we could have been playing for the MNC. Just like if a few things had to fall into place in 2003.
  8. I hope we do have back to back BCS bowl wins after this season. Unfortunately the Peach Bowl hasn't joined the BCS yet. But you are right. He has overachieved either way.
  9. Last year's team slightly exceeded my expectations. I thought they'd be lucky to only lose two on the road with their wicked, wicked schedule. I thought they'd be lucky to get into a BCS game. So by only losing two, winning 11, and getting into the Sugar (with an actual chance at the Rose if USC would have done their part), they beat what I hoped and expected when the season began. Back-to-back top five finishes and bowl wins...that's beyond what I expected two years ago when Miles was hired.

Miles has exceeded my expections, especially given his first season dealing with Katrina and last year's schedule. I'm almost afraid that he and his staff won't know what to do without facing natural disasters or killer road trips.
  10. I think we overachieved in 05 (considering the circumstances), and met expectations in 06.
