I'm curious as to which 7-8 tough SEC games you are talking about.
I can think of 4 this past year (are just about any other year), in Florida, Auburn, Arkansas, and Tennessee. I think Tennessee is a stretch, but it was at Tenn. I guess you could be including Bama and Ole Miss, but I'd say that is a pretty far stretch to constitute those teams as "tough" games, especially at home. After that is Miss St and Kentucky. I think Kentucky is coming into the picture, but I wouldn't say they were a tough one, at least not for many other teams, especially LSU.

I agree that there are deffinitely 7-8 tough SEC teams, each of which could easily make the top 10 in a given year. But the fact is, because of the split in the SEC, no team has to play more than 3-4 of those teams in any given year.

Finally, I don't think you can use draft picks to determine how good a team was, should be, or what ever. ND had more draft picks than LSU this year, and we all know how they did in a head to head match up!

Add to that the SECCG, when you have to face the best team in the other division, and possibly for the second time, the SEC becomes a buzz saw. Considering that one loss alone jeopardizes your chances at the NCG, and with two, it's a miracle you make it to a BCS bowl. Weaker conferences can be dominated easily, which translates to less injuries throughout the year and a pretty fresh team that never really had to play for their post season life. The SEC does not give anyone that luxury as even our lowly teams step it up 80% of the time. Look at the unexplainable swings in the scores between the "powers" and the bottom dwellers in the SEC.

Other conferences may step up to dominate the sport in the future, but I would not hold my breath.

My point was that without any other means of comparison, USC's record of 4-0 against SEC teams since 2003 suggests that we were legit contenders regardless of our conference. Don't forget, we weren't in that big TV market of L.A. when we shutout Auburn at home 23-0 in front of a national TV audience. Advantage Auburn, winner, SC.

Well, I got your point... this stuff always gets me in soooo much "twoble"... but for someone to think fUSC (I don't like you guys either... mainly because you've been beating the crap out of everybody and Pete seems gay to me) would have had "woeful success" playing in the SEC over the past few years... well, I could use some of their drugs...
Auburn lost one conference game in two years (2004 & 2005) friggen 15-1... yet they lost to GT and Wisconsin out of conference. Is someone suggesting the 2004 and 2005 versions of USC (sorry, forgot the f) couldn't have pulled that off... if not better it?

The PAC-10 has played 92 OOC games over the past five years against other teams from BCS automatically-eligible conferences. They're 45-47.
The SEC (12 teams) have played 107 OOC games during the same time span against other "BCS league" teams and they're 53-54.
Does anyone see a domination factor here?
Using the same five year span, only three PAC-10 teams have winning records against other BCS league teams: USC is 16-2; Cal is 8-3; ASU is 7-5; everyone else is .500 or worse.
Guess what, same with the SEC (with two more teams, mind ya): Georgia is 12-1; LSU is 7-3; Auburn is 6-5; Kentucky is .500 and everyone else has a losing record.

Now for the big question.... So, Hawker, you fool you, who do you think has the best conference?

I wasn't referring to the ACC. We are talking about the SEC. And I didn't use the word qualify, I said jeopardize. Perhaps you don't understand the meaning of the word jeopardize?

I'd like to see any info/link that shows the majority of injuries occur in league play versus in practice particularly by conference. The SC forum has had a VERY pissy conversation going on for the last several years about whether or not PC runs too tough a practice. We seem to lose more players to injury from practice than other programs although I have yet to see supporting data.

I will say that last season, over 70% of our offensive playbook included packages utilizing the fullback position. 2/3 of the way through the season we were down to our 4th/5th string guy. Not only that but at one point, DJ and Steve Smith missed 3 weeks of play due to injuries leaving us with our 2nd, 3rd, and at times 4th WR. Lastly, injuries in our secondary left us using a true freshman, Taylor Mays, as a starter in some games.

You can always take solace in the fact that USC has played more OOC BCS teams over the last five years than Bama, Ole Miss and Miss State combined.

Remember, in football, everybody hates the winners, unless, of course, it's them.

As far as tiger fans are concearned, they may have a popular "favorite" to hate from time to time, but I've learned over the many years that for most it's love LSU, hate everyone else!

Very funny. When we were at the bottom of the Pac10 during the 90's, I woulda' had to pay somebody to hate us.......okay maybe not the irish and utla. :hihi:

Personally, I don't hate, I just want to settle it on the field.
