Bama fans are delusional. I've never used that label before. After reading this article about Saban's contract for himself and his assistants Bama fans are delusional. If Saban lays an egg(and what is an egg in this case, 9-3?) and Bama wants him out they still have to pay him 32 million. I've never heard of that. Congratualtions to Nick Saban for seeing an opportunity to take Desperate Alabama to the bank and fire up their delusional fan base. I would think every opposing coach and player will thrive in beating the richest coaching staff in college football.

On a side note: Do they still call Bama's band "The Million Dollar Band"? That tagline would seem pretty silly in light of what they have just done.
  2. Isn't getting top quality assistant coaches a good thing?
  3. Saban's doing the same things there he did here. Who cares ... until we play them.
  4. In all honesty, I can't find a thing in that article that would lead to the assumption that the Bama fan base is delusional. Where do you see that?
  5. How can you? You're a Bama fan.

  6. Paying top dollar for what you can scrap together? This is far from top quality. It's not bad but not top quality.
  7. I agree!
  8. A few years ago, LSU had the highest-paid staff in football. It changes all the time. Nick is just the latest golden boy with a blank check and he spent it hiring the best coaches that he could. Next year, some other team will pay their coaches more. It could be us because we'll likely have to replace Bo Pellini and it won't be cheap.

Sure the Bammers exaggerate their quality, but Nick still has a good set of coaches. He's always trying to upgrade, so those that don't measure up will be dropped like a rock at the end of the season. He upgraded every year at LSU. Nick has many vices, but spending money unwisely has not been one of them. Those who imagine that he is wasting money on coaches may be a bit delusional too.
  9. What he did was get high dollar contracts for his assistants which allows him to attract better coaches in the future. Saban has no loyalty what so ever and will ditch or run off an assistant he doesn't want. Having a high salary established for that position gives him a better chance of landing a quality guy to fill the slot. Getting high salaries for your assistants is a very smart move for any head coach, even satan and if BAMA is stupid enough to pay it....oh well.
