I'm starting this thread to field comments as the CWS tournment plays out.

Louisville just jumped on #2 Rice for 5 runs through 3. Rice looks in shock giving up three runs. They have some of the best pitching in college baseball. Since 5 of the 8 top seeds lost in regional play the first weekend I'm starting to think there may be more then one cinderella story this year. Louisville looks fearless. You just never know when a teams bats will stop hitting.

The stands are packed, man, I wish we were there.

UL reminds me of the big bat days here at LSU. The best defense is offense and they know how to hit. I wonder if their hitting coach will be getting any big offers after the CWS.

Some comments from MSU Coach Ron Polk from today’s Memphis, Tennessee Commercial Appeal -----

    *****************************************************************
Polk has been visible and vocal for weeks, and during an interview at the PalmeiroCenter in Starkville, Miss., on Tuesday afternoon, it took him exactly 56 seconds to take his first unsolicited swipe at the NCAA. He was talking about how great the crowds were at Dudy Noble Field for the Super Regional last week, how folks had to be turned away at the gate two hours before the first pitch. Then he interrupted himself.

"The only bad thing is that we have to send a check to the NCAA," Polk said. "I hate that."

He leaned forward and lowered his voice to a conspiratorial whisper.
"The NCAA is not happy that we're there," he said, referring to MSU's berth in the College World Series. "They're not happy we're there, I guarantee you. When I'm at a press conference, I'm going to talk about my team and my kids. But if somebody asks me a question about the NCAA, I'm going to talk. I want to blast the NCAA. And I will."

Saw some Diamond Dawgs, had a good conversation. said Geaux SEC. They are excited. Not much to cheer for at MSU so I am rooting for those guys to win.

Rice 15, Louisville 10. I didn't think L'ville could get that much off Rice pitching and said so in another post earlier. I was wrong. A baseball expert on the board commented that he didn't think Rice had the bats. We were both wrong today.

Man, what a game! Welcome Louisville to the CWS. This game was so typical of CWS games. I think this is the best baseball played anywhere!

So have any background on what is going on here with Polk and the NCAA. It seems kind of strange that he would be doing this at the CWS while his team is playing for a possible NC.

The game this afternoon reminded me of the national championship game of a few years ago between SoCal and AzSt (?), something like 21-14. That was in the big bat days.

MooU came outta the gate strong, 4-0 lead, but Carolina is gonna send 'em down I think. Would like to see the dogs win but I don't think they'll handle Carolina. Down 8-5 now in the bottom of the 8th (tar heels are home team).
