Or, the voters in the southeast have seen more of LSU and feel they are fortunate to only have one loss, or at least don't think they are playing up to expectations and thus haven't been impressed. Meanwhile, they are just reading about Oregon, et al and figure they must have looked pretty good. Media ignorance cuts both ways.
lets not get carried away with the angry banter...AP has a purpose only After the BCS championship is played. Much like in 03, when USC supposedly shared the NC with us. But in reality, the BCS championship game, is where the Crystal Football trophy resides. That's all that matters, AP is opinionated from a wide variety of media circles. Every year there will be controversy over who should play who in the NCG. Until we establish a playoff system, we will have BCS drama.
That is exactly whats wrong with AP...games week in and week out, aren't seen by every AP voter. And just checking the box score, doesn't show the physical and emotional dominance one team has over another.
Yep, but it's not unique to the AP. Heck, they probably see more teams than the coaches in the other poll, who shouldn't be paying much attention to anyone who isn't on their schedule. We shouldn't need polls to tell us who is best, but it's what we are stuck with (at least it's a little better than it used to be).
The coaches polls are worse. They overtly vote to help their position or to hurt conference rivals positions.
you're preaching to the choir. you're talking to the guy who thinks computer polls are the only ones that should count.
I think many lsu people harbor hatred toward the AP for proclaiming USC as the 2003 national champions. Personally, I still think the AP poll is the premier poll in college football, and the BCS is the flavor of the week. The BCS has proven to be garbage. Just ask Auburn, Utah and Boise State.
