I am sure everyone is sick of Miles threads...

But in reading the article in the advocate this morning it sounds like O'Keefe and Bertman are going to try and get a contract extension done pretty quick.

Here is the link and some relevant quotes from it.

“We’ll renegotiate with Les and he will stay,” Bertman predicted. “I don’t know how fast it can be done. I don’t know if it can be done by Friday or by even the SEC Championship Game.”

LSU Chancellor Sean O’Keefe wouldn’t discuss financial figures but said the university would do whatever necessary to retain Miles, whether that requires a new agreement before or after a bowl game.

“If you’re going to be in the top five, you’ve got to be over $3 million,” Bertman said. “If you’re going to be in the top three, you’ve got to be at $3.5 million. Yeah, sure, we’re going to have meetings and figure out a way to get there.”

O’Keefe said the main concern at LSU is lingering uncertainty in the public.

“The only thing he (Miles) is frustrated about is recruits are asking what he’s doing,” O’Keefe said.

Would it shock anyone if Miles signs a new deal and commits to LSU right after the SECCG?

Miles deserves a new deal. I don't think we should do anything stupid. I'd like to see him at $2.5 mil., maybe Mack Brown $ at $2.8. Stoopes does not deserve his 3+, nor saban.

I say give him 4 mil + $1.00 a year just to be paid more than Satan, he's earned it. It's justifiable and it's due.:geaux: :crystal:

I really don't like contract extensions. Seems administrators sometimes get a little too easy with the duration and the money. And if one party is gonna get screwed, seems like its usually the school. I realize its the way of the business of college football and when you have a coach that's a hot property, you do what you gotta do. Does sorta make we wish that all parties would just honor existing contracts. Were that the case, renegotiations and extensions wouldn't be so necessary.

I like this idea. I'll pony up the $1 a year and some billionaire can take care of the rest. I really want to do my part.

I will do it for a cup of quarters and a TF t-shirt just for the opportunity to walk out of the tunnel and holla back with the student section and catch beer cups. :thumb: Yesterday I spoke with Sam Kinisons baby and he said maybe! :nope:

Not sure Miles is in it for the Money. He lives in Prairieville and his kids go to public school. He is not concerned with keeping up with the Jones.

Saban had to have the big house on Highland Road and his kids had to go to U-High.

I would like to see LSU give him more money to show our commitment to him but I would also like to see more money for assistants.

I think he is certainly staying now.

A new deal will be done shortly and he will ours for as long as he wants to stay here.

miles has made that part of the deal before. when he was hired at oklahoma state, he turned down part of what was being offered for his pay with the condition that it go to pay for assistants.
