We will see what we are made of the next 3 weeks. Florida on the road. If we happen to win that one we fall into the classic "trap" game at South Carolina. Then home to UGA. If we come out of this with a 2-1 record I'd be happy. We would still be a top 10 team with a chance to control our destiny. If we beat Florida at their yard we will get a nice boost in national recognition. Heck we already are at #3 and #4 in the polls. I think the next 2 week's games define who we are.
What you are talking about extends a lot farther than just three weeks. We might beat Florida, SC, Georgia, and Bama no problem and then drop one to Ole Miss. Every game is as big as the last.
I agree that this is a murderous stretch, but I have a good feeling about making it through unscathed. Of course, next Sunday at this time, I could be singing an entirely different song. I feel like we still haven't gotten a chance to see much of our team. For some reason, not being able to play that Troy game has just messed up the season--then robs us of a precious idle week down the stretch.
I think well win all three if we beat florida if not then blah no good south carolina doesnt have a qb that can hurt us and i think we can stop KM from georgia it will be cool to see Pat Peterson against AJ green
Does any other team in the country have eight straight games without a break to end the season, and as many as four of them against ranked teams? How many teams could run that gauntlet?
The schedule looks much tougher after 5 weeks. I don't think we can make the championship with 2 loses like last year but you never know. Things have to fall our way: Good QB play, staying healthy at key positions, and keeping focused on the next game. We have the talent to win them all but are also capable of losing 4 of 8. The talent level is that close.
I agree the next few weeks defines the season. I picked us 9-3 before the season with losses to Auburn, Fla. and Ga. We beat Auburn, but I'll stick with 9-3 and be happy to be proven wrong. Thinking was young QB, corners and LB would get us. Lot left on the table, but another interesting year shaping up, the kind I wished for in the 90's! I think we'll be a better team next year. This is a young squad, except the o-line and Tyson Jackson.
If we get past Florida, and I do predict a 31-20 win, I believe LSU will go through the rest of the season unbeaten. All the way to the championship. Perfect season. Yep, I said it.
What remains to be seen is how well we can improve on the defensive secondary; I feel better about the offense. I am not expecting a run at the NC championship for this team as there are just too many crazy variables, and it is still a bit early in the season with a lot of games to be played. I just hope we beat BAMA which would most likely make LSU the SEC West champs, and then possibly the SEC Champs. I really pray that the team stays healthy which is also the key. I feel good about winning against the Gators, and am not afraid of SC nor Georgia.
If we can make it to the Troy game intact, we're going to really need to try to get the guys who normally play a lot of minutes each game a break - treat it as the bye week it was supposed to be as much as we can - anyone dinged up at all should sit out, even if they'd normally play through it. If the Tulane game is as tough as it was last year then we can't do the same thing against Tulane, but if by some chance that game turns out to be a game where LSU jumps out early and grabs a big lead, I hope we rest our 1st string guys a lot too.
