A fluctuating and fairly flat curve dips lower than the other one one time in the history of the poll. Not exactly a trend . . . The question has been within 10 points for decades and clearly an issue that the public is fairly evenly split on. Which is why a compromise like Roe v Wade has worked for so long. The lifers get restrictions, but not the total ban that they want. The choicers must make their choice within clear restrictions and don't get the total freedom that some want.
looking at answers that are not "all of the time" "none of the time", the percentage of allowing abortions with restrictions of some degree is a combined 52%. the split on those that call themselves "pro-choice" or "pro-life" is fairly evenly split. this suggests to me that there are a lot of people of both "sides" that are in the middle of this. to me this says that the majority of americans are not looking at an all or nothing degree of abortion, but see it in larger terms than black or white. over 50% agree with the middle ground approach of allowing abortions but with restrictions. just under 50% combined are completely "pro-life" or "pro-choice".
What are the numbers regarding the reason for pregnancy leading up to an abortion? I would guess that a very small percentage are a result of rape or incest and an even smaller number involve the health of the mother or child. If so, then the overwhelming number of abortions are a result of two people engaging in very irresponsible behavior and the taxpayers get to fund their quick solution. :nope: Maybe these polls should be tied to your paycheck or welfare check. If you vote in favor of abortion a small amount of money would be withheld to help pay for abortions. If you vote no, then you would keep your money until the liberals can find another unfair way to tax you. :hihi:
From this about 92 percent of abortions are for selfish reasons on the part of the mother, or others in her life.
That's what I figured. Thanks!!! The spin doctors like to say it's due to the health of the mother and/or baby but that's obviously not the case. They know they'll have a hard time convincing people in a moral court, so they've successfully turned this into a womens' rights issue. I love when someone says if you're against abortion, you're against women. My wife is a woman and is against abortion, so I guess she's violating her own rights.
