http://www.nola.com/sugarbowl/t-p/index.ssf?/sugarbowl/content/010304_spy.html The outcome remains one of the oldest records in Sugar Bowl annals: Sooners 35, Tigers 0, which is the most lopsided game in the history of the New Orleans classic.
Good job D. From humiliation comes strength. The two biggest powers in the NCAA football nation will meet early this year to determine who will be a player in the outcome of the MNC. This year will be a heartbreaker early on for either AU or LSU. I'm picking LSU.LSU!

Wilkinson’s team was rated second in the nation and it was the first one of his squads to post an undefeated record, 10-0. The game was one-sided and still stands as the largest margin of victory in OU bowl history. One of the many Sooner big plays was Leon Heath’s OU bowl record-breaking 86-yard TD run. The game was marred by an early-week incident where a former LSU player was caught spying on Sooner practices. It was the only time in Wilkinson’s career that he publicly blasted an opponent. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - 1951 SUGAR BOWL Kentucky 13, OU 7 - Jan. 1, 1951 at New Orleans, La. OU won its first national championship by going a perfect 10-0 in the regular season. However, Kentucky, coached by Paul “Bear” Bryant, upset the Sooners and broke a 31-game OU winning streak. OU lost a bowl-record five fumbles in falling behind 13-0. A fourth quarter 17-yard TD pass by Billy Vessels narrowed the margin but a come-from-behind effort was foiled by an interception in the final minute of play.
Common source of confusion (myself included until a couple of years ago) for fans---New Years Day and beyond bowl games are referred to by the actual calendar year in which the game takes place, not by the recently completed season. This is why LSU won the 2003 national title by winning the 2004 Sugar Bowl.
This is the best place for most college football questions... http://www.cfbdatawarehouse.com/data/bowls/year_by_year.php
I believe it's considered the 1949 Sugar Bowl and the 1950 Sugar Bowl, regardless of the calendar year.
The Official Sugar Bowl Site shows it is the calendar year that the game is played in. As do the owners of the other bowls. http://66.175.13.176/football.php?content=results§ion=football 1950OklahomaWilkinson35210-0-0 82,0001:45 p.m.$238,084 LSUG. Tinsley0 98-2-0 1951KentuckyP.
