Have heard some talk lately about LSU possibly having an incredible backfield next season if Hill stays. Hopefully LF is as good as advertised and Hill does stay.

But that got me to thinking and I decided to go to youtube and watch some highlights from 1997. Man those guys had some serious highlights, all 3 had a 200 yard game that season.

I forgot that Collins returned some ko's. What a waste of talent, although after breaking his leg he might not have been quite a good anyway.

Faulk might have been the best receive we've ever had as well as a fabulous RB. And Mealy had an exceptional Independence Bowl.

I also watched highlights of Faulk as a Pat and although he wasn't an every down back he was still incredible.

Just thought I'd post this, sorry if bringing up The Diesel gets anyone upset.

Having lived in Boston for some time (2001-2007 and then back again the end of last year) New England fans LOVE Faulk! Part of what kept his career so long (in RB terms) was that as a 3rd down back, he avoided the pounding that the 20-carry/game RB's typically get. But when he needed to fill in either to injury or game plan, he was ALWAYS capable of running between the tackles, had the speed on the outside, could catch the ball like a WR and was terrific in picking up the blitz! Trust me, he might not have been a Pro-Bowler, but he is one of the Patriots' most loved player.

It's hard to top the Dalton-James gang. Hilliard had over 200 total yards in the "orange" game against Florida St. that sent LSU to the Orange Bowl that year. Mack Brown was the OC that year, his first as OC if I'm not mistaken. LSU had been running a veer offense prior to Mac's arrival and he turned the offense into a prolific high-scoring machine that year. They were just a great tandem backfield.

Yep they were a great duo, LSU has had some incredible backfields.

Mack was the QB coach, but also called plays. George Belu was the OC in tittle.
An yes, Dalton James gang, was a good one.

Terry Robiskie and Charles Alexander. Best one-two pouch at RB ever. Power backs with size and speed in an era when that was an extremely rare combination.
