Out of Hahnville and was offered a couple of nights. Today sealed the deal for the 3rd commit of the day. He and Alfred Blue are cousins.

LSU LANDS TOP RECRUIT

LSU Tigers picked up a verbal commitment last weekend from one of the state's most underrated football players and one of the River Region's top players in Hahnville defensive back Jerqwinick Sandolph.

The 6-foot-1, 190-pound safety/cornerback had been offered by Pittsburgh, Memphis, Minnesota and Louisiana-Lafayette, but Sandolph and his coach Lou Valdin were surprised that the Tigers offered the versatile defender.

"I knew that LSU had an interest in Jerqwinick, but we were both kind of surprised they offered this quickly," Valdin said. "LSU has a pretty long list of players they are interested in, but they are getting a really good football player in Jerqwinick. I am convinced that if he didn't commit this summer he would have had a long list of teams after him."

Valdin says LSU is getting a versatile player.....

I keep on seeing where people are surprised we took this kid so early. Well there were people were pissed when we took Claiborne and Matheiu. Ron Cooper is one of the best out there when it comes to evaluating and coaching the secondary. If Cooper likes this kid then I like him.
