A Solid Win

    Positive:

The defense was impressive, and if the running game can continue to keep the opposing team's defense on the field, LSU has the talent to grind out a lot of wins this year.

While it may have been lowly MSU, this win could generate a lot of momentum for the rest of the season, or at least the next couple of games. They seemed to be playing with a chip on their shoulder, especially JJ.

And speaking of JJ, his stats weren't great, but he didn't make many mistakes. He looked pumped. The QB play has to continue to consistently improve.

Special teams plays lights out on both sides. Really impressive.

Sheppard is one of my new favorite Tigers, Nevis is a 1st rounder, Peterson is still amazing, and Ridley reminds me a lot of the Broussard of '04. He's shown a lot of growth and responsibility just within the 2 games following the UNC game.

    Negative:

I can't help but wonder how this secondary will play against a team with a good passing attack. They played great tonight, especially if you count all of the picks, but the last 2 (or 3) QBs they've played are barely a step above garbage. The one guy a step above that threw for 400+ yards on them.

MSU had 150+ yards rushing on this defense.

Shepard has got to look the ball into his hands, and Tolliver looked rusty.

The redzone offense has also got to get better.

That dang option is still stupid, even if they did get a 3 yard gain.

I still want to see Ford.

When Lee stepped in, they fumbled. :hihi:

CajunPunk, did you miss how Miss State out-gained LSU 267 yards to 262? And 18 first downs to 17? I'm disappointed that you aren't going into complete bitch-mode over this.

I think we see more Ford next week, given Blue's fumble when they just needed to run out clock...

For the D, dont read to much into it, half of the rushing yards came from States first drive of the second half...

No big deal, D was just flat.

State had 100 yards at half and got the rest mostly on their first drive of the second half....

State isn't horrible or a high school team...

    3-0 baby!

Wow, you can't even take a favorable review.

We're going to have to give a name to this kind of Tiger fan. A MasochisTiger.

Well, islstl? You love to bitch about the Tigers... our offense couldn't even out-gain "lowly" Miss State as CajunPunk sees them. Our NCAA offensive rankings will surely drop, will they not? And you'll be using that as more ammo for your bitching, will you not? Didn't you see the option to the short-side of the field?
