So, does this mean they are gone for good? If so, this should free up scholarship room for incoming freshman, right? That's good news if any from this incident.

There really isn't much good about this although I realize you are just trying to be optimistic.

I'm sure this will all be addressed after the season but I can't imagine coach Saban letting this slide. I don't think he's going to allow this sort of thing to occur without some severe repercussions. He's not going to allow his program to be pulled down by something like this. If he doesn't nip this type of thing in the bud and set an example other players will think they can do the same.

I'm willing to bet they'll be gone.

I think these players need to go if this stuff is true.

We don't need players like this.......

This could become a distraction and thats the only thing we don't
need right now before the biggest game of our lives.

Yeah just trying to be optomistic. I would hate to see Shyrone go, but we do have a stable of capable RBs

I am a lot more worried about the loss of Damen than I am about Carey. LSU has more than enough good running backs but snapping the ball for punts and place kicks is a special skill that most starting centers don't possess. Every NFL team carries a long snapper on their roster because even though the regular centers do a good enough job when their team is in the shotgun they are inconsistent on the punt an place kick snaps. I forget the guys name but the long snapper for the New York Giants had never made a bad snap in his career until the potential game winning field goal attempt in last years Giants-49ers playoff game. The snapper is from somewhere in North Louisiana and he retired right after the game but he is still haunted by the one mistake of his career.

I have to confess I have never heard of Damen before today but long snappers toil in anonymnity until the make a mistake that brings them to the attention of the public. Damen must have been doing a good job because we would have all known who he was before today if he had made a bad snap that cost the Tigers a game.

    Jeeez, what a bunch!
Shyrone Carey's early season play is a very big reason why LSU is here ... so what if LSU is loaded at RB ... two or three injuries and the cupboard is bare again ... and Matt Damen has been a solid fixture for LSU in a critical role ...

It's wrong to turn on them ... and just plain dumb.

They'll pay their price for the Bowl Ticket infractions and breaking the rules ... as they should ... and they'll both probably return next year too ... as they can and should.

This is the first "BLACK EYE" for LSU this year ... and it is a very minor infraction ... so be thankful for that ... and be thankful for a coach with enough sand ... not to play them and PLAY IT CLEAN.

Some other unnamed SEC coaches will play drunks, substance abusers and rulebreakers ... without a second thought.

What's clouded is that the compliance group meets with the players on these types of issues regularly (my cousin's wife works in compliance at LSU). These guys are routinely warned about the rules.

And you can't tell me that LSU didn't meet with the team about these issues when ticket prices are going in the 4-figure range. Greed overcame common sense.

Sitting out the MNC game is a pretty sever punishment in itself. Saban will have to address after the game. Only Saban knows what the final outcome will be.

Yellowex, I care about Shyrone Carey. He's not just some piece of trash that you discard. He's a human being, an LSU football player and (I hope) an LSU student. Therefore I care about him. He made a pretty bad error in judgement and one can imagine that sitting out the Sugar Bowl will be something that he will always regret, especially if the Tigers bring home the national championship. He's got no one to blame but himself, but I feel bad for him.
