Mark Snyder’s football career might have arrived at another obstacle Monday, and the LSU coaches will likely have to shuffle the offensive line deck as a result.
Snyder suffered what Tigers coach Les Miles said “appears to be a pretty significant” knee injury in Monday’s morning practice.
As a junior at Brother Martin High School in 2004, Snyder suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament. Before his senior season, Snyder and his family were displaced by Hurricane Katrina and he spent his final prep campaign at West Monroe.
Last season Snyder redshirted, but he was projected as a key backup at right tackle behind Carnell Stewart.
Miles didn’t go into detail, but when asked if the injury was a severe as the one in 2004 he said “We hope it’s not as bad, but it might be.”
Should Snyder be out for an extended period, the LSU coaches would likely look to a talented freshman crew of offensive linemen to provide some depth sooner than expected.
