A lot different than the first incident. This sounds like it just happened around campus. The other was a student who went nuts.
Source says the gunman offed himself. Good riddance. If these shootings have to happen, this is the "best" outcome. If he had been taken alive, he'd have gotten a custom psych defense, a life prison sentence at taxpayer expense, and the family of the dead officer forced to relive what happened in the media circus surrounding the trial.
Everything I've read about Blacksburg is that it is a nice, low-crime, high-income city. What's the deal?

Sure the tax payer pays for the ammo. But like most of these cowards they take the easy way out. Off themselves. No I always like it better when one of our finest can take someone out who murders, rapes or whatever to innocent people. Since he took out a police officer its sad his colleagues didnt have the luxury of emptying a clip in him. Shame for Va Tech. Great school that cannot seem to lose a stigma right now. I went to the LSU vatec game in Blacksburg and their fans were ass holes except for this one chick. They had a riot the night b4 the game with our fans. Those people are strange.
