I want to get 4 Auburn tickets. Does anyone know if I have to put the money up front, or wait till I am sure that I am awarded the tickets?

Away tickets are only offered to season ticketholders right now. I highly doubt they will offer any to the general public ... it'll depend on demand.

And yes, you are charged up front for ordering tickets...
