Glad to hear your grandson is back and all is well!! Thank him for his service, we all appreciate it. I hope you all get to relax and enjoy the holiday.
Hey Reb... I remember how worried and concerned you were when he found out he was going. It sure does seem like the time has passed quickly since then. Although I am sure it was not the same for all of you. You are obviously proud of your grandson and you know what, that's nothing new. You've always been proud of your family. On rare occasion you mention your family here on the forum and share such things with us. It certainly makes having you around the forum all that much better. Those of us "back home" are truly grateful for his service. It goes without saying that your grandson, along with the young men and women there deserve the thanks they are getting. For that matter Reb, thanks to you too and all of your family. I know it was a trying time for each of you to have him gone. When it comes to that Thanksgiving dinner, there will be no shame in your tears, only the joy that comes from being a proud grandfather!
Drink deeply from this moment in honor of and to quench the thirst of those who remain behind. We are of a single heart. Salute.
You and I are very lucky individuals to see our family serve in the military and have them return from harms way in good shape. My son was splitting time between Ashraf and Bagdad for the last year for the Army and has returned to Germany safe and sound. His homecoming will be in the latter part of January, as you can imagine we are stifled with anticipation upon his return. We indeed are blessed with their safe return. May God bless you and your family for all you have sacrificed for this great nation!
Great news, Col.... Tell him that his service will not go unappreciated. These many posts from your friends on this forum are a small representation for who he is and what he did. And also who you are. I am grateful for men like your grandson. You must certainly be a proud and happy grandpa today. I am quite certain that your Thanksgiving will be especially joyful this year. I AM sorry, however, that your Rebs might disturb your appetite this weekend...
