STM's Mahtook waits for news on future
If STM All-Star outfielder Mikie Mahtook had to make his best guess, he'd be wearing an LSU Tigers' baseball uniform next spring.
But as Mahtook prepares for this weekend's All-Star Games, he also knows that something else could be on the horizon. Mahtook has recently attended workouts for the Mets, Blue Jays and Marlins and has another one in the works for the Tigers.
Mahtook said it's the financial offer, not the round, that will determine whether he's in the minor leagues or in Baton Rouge next fall.
"I really have no idea what's going to happen in the draft,'' said Mahtook, who hit .450 with 12 doubles, 12 homers and 36 RBIs. "I wish I did. It's been my dream for a long time to play for LSU. I want to have that experience, but you have to look at all the options. If you get a good offer, you have to look at it.''

When Ryan Chaffee visited LSU, the Tigers were in last place in the Southeastern Conference baseball standings.
But on the day the former Niceville High and Chipola College standout departed, LSU began what has morphed into the SEC's most historic winning streak, which now stands at 23. Chaffee was impressed by the program before the streak, and it's reaffirmed why he recently decided to sign with the Tigers.
"It didn't have a lot to do with it, but now it does," he said.

But Chaffee acknowledges that he may never make it to LSU. A 6-foot-2 right-handed pitcher and first baseman, Chaffee will almost certainly get taken in the Major League draft on Thursday. The Braves chose him in the 43rd round last year, and he can foresee going the pro route instead of heading to Division I.
"If it's the right situation, I'll go," Chaffee said. "It's hard to say what the right situation is until it hits you."

Redding went to the Dodgers in the 5th round (#157)

I would assume they will probably never wear a Tiger uniform.:nope:

Shortly after getting selected, Chaffee was outside playing baseball with his nephew Jayson. Indeed, he doesn't intend to give his arm a rest: Chaffee told teams that he'd sign if he was drafted in the first three rounds, making it highly unlikely he'll ever play for LSU.
"Getting picked that early is something I really wanted to do," Chaffee said. "Now that it happened, I want to get to the pros as quick as I can. Honestly, I'd love to sign by this weekend."

Here is some news on Tyler Hanover:

Hanover, who played his first three seasons at East Forsyth before transferring, finished his senior season at North with a .493 batting average, 42 RBIs, 12 home runs and 22 runs scored. He also had a 1.095 slugging percentage and a .533 on-base percentage and pitched 12 innings, finishing with three saves and a 1.70 earned run average.
Hanover (5-7, 165) has signed to play at LSU and is a finalist for Gatorade's national player-of-the-year award, which will be announced later this month.
