1. When is signing day for baseball? Or, who have we signed?
  2. the big dates are:

    June 6-8, 2011 -- First-Year Player Draft, Secaucus, N.J.
Aug. 15, 2011 -- Last day for teams to sign 2011 First-Year Player Draft selections who have remaining college eligibility. Deadline is midnight.

we see which current LSU recruits and which current LSU players get drafted (Mahtook might very well go in the 1st Round), and then we wait to the Aug. 15 deadline to see which ones signed with the pros or not. At around the same time as the Aug. 15 deadline, the fall semester starts, so we have a good idea who our new recruiting class is by who is enrolled at LSU for the fall. then during the fall, we can still pick up guys, esp JUCO guys, and have them enroll for the spring semester

  4. Also just signed JUCO OF out of Cypress College in Cali, Arby Fields. He was a RB at Northwestern his freshman year along with the leadoff hitter for the baseball team. Was drafted in the 34th round by Atlanta out of High School.

    Switch hitter too...
  5. so we are looking at potentially three Div-1 running backs on our baseball team next year: Spencer Ware, Terrence Magee, and Arby Fields

as for Arby Fields, i love his old-timey baseball name. he's from the same southern california community as another guy with an old-timey baseball name: HOFer Rollie Fingers. coming out of high school, Fields was rated a 3-star RB recruit, and selected in the 34th round of the MLB Draft. he went to play ball in the Big Ten at Northwestern, starting 3 games at RB for the football team during fall of his freshman year, and then starting 55 of 56 games at CF for the baseball team during the spring, being named a Big Ten All-Freshman Team selection. his best performance was a game @ Illinois where he had four hits, including a grand slam and a three-run homer. then in Fall of his sophomore year, he started 4 games at RB for the football team. At the end of the football season, he left Northwestern and went back to a community college near his hometown in southern california (Cypress College), where he is currently playing spring baseball (he has started in all 39 of their games so far)
