Baseball Recruits
  1. Hi! New to the forum but would sure like to know something.

    Does anyone have a complete list of LSU recruits/signees for baseball next year. I've found 13 recruits with a pitcher named Brown being the last one mentioned on the LSU site. This was dated in mid November of last year.

    So, before the major league draft, does anyone have a list that might give the names of signees in the Spring? We keep hearing there are 18 or more, but all we can find is the 13.

  4. Thanks, I have those 13. There are, however, 18 altogether. The number has been listed in several stories in newspapers throughout the state.

    I am just trying to find out if five more have signed since mid-November or where did this 18 number in these articles come from?

    Middle Infielder Drew Cumberland--Pace High School in Milton, Fla. (No. 38-rated draft prospect overall)

    Batted .370 last season at Delgado with 17 homers and 60 RBI
    Drafted by the Tampa Bay Devil Rays as a high school senior
    Three-year baseball letterwinner at Rummel High School as a 1B, OF and catcher
    Earned all-state and all-district recognition at Rummel High

    2007 stats: .494, 3 HRs, 19 RBIs
    Breakdown: Cumberland earns the final spot in the Top 20 thanks to outstanding overall athleticism and speed. He was a Class 4A All-State selection as a defensive back in the fall and could have pursued a career in football if he weren't a sure-fire early-round major league draft pick. Cumberland doesn't have a ton of power, but he can make up for it by turning singles into doubles or stealing bases like Jose Reyes.
