1. Tigers won tonight 3-2. Luckily I was able to get the audio.
    :geauxtige
  2. LSU beats Nichols 3-2, Brandon Nall goes 8.1

nalls longest outing ever. LSU up 3-1 in the 4th and dont score after.

Nall gets one out in the 9th then hits batter on his 100th pitch. then 2 on and Faircloth comes in to get the final 2 outs.

LSU hangs on to win, FAIRCLOTH gets the save.

    LSU/RICE tomorrow @ 7 zephyr field.
  3. Re: LSU beats Nichols 3-2, Brandon Nall goes 8.1

Great outing by Nall. But, there is no way that the Tigers should win that game by only a run. There is no way SEC caliber players cant beat Nicholls state by more than a run. Not only that, but they only scored 3 runs. If the Tigers have trouble with a mid week guy at Nicholls, look out for USC.
  4. Re: LSU beats Nichols 3-2, Brandon Nall goes 8.1

We did beat this team 18-2 or something earlier this year...

A win is a win in baseball
  5. Re: LSU beats Nichols 3-2, Brandon Nall goes 8.1

I know that, but LSU is a premiere program in college baseball. They were facing a guy that they roughed up earlier this year. Bottom line is, if it werent for RP, this offense would flat out suck. That offense against USC's pitching will be a joke.
  6. Re: LSU beats Nichols 3-2, Brandon Nall goes 8.1

people need to quit speaking in absolute terms when it comes to baseball. to say LSU should never only win by x amount of runs shows complete ignorance. its completely absurd to believe that.

    the more you know.
  7. Re: LSU beats Nichols 3-2, Brandon Nall goes 8.1

Tirk, its not so much that they should win by x runs, but they should be hitting the ball all over the place against NSU. The offense sucks.
  8. Re: LSU beats Nichols 3-2, Brandon Nall goes 8.1

Considering that this team is hitting .257 in conference play I agree. We have to win 4 out of 5 this week if want to be reconsidered for a super regional.
  9. Re: LSU beats Nichols 3-2, Brandon Nall goes 8.1

really? just because they are nicholls or because you saw this pitcher was hit by another team before? that's a terrible assessment.

hitting .257 in conference play or league play?

if overall its awful. if league play that is bad but not unacceptable.

do you know where ben sheets went to college? there are plenty of great pitchers at no name colleges and when you speak in general and uninformed terms it doesn't actually add up. This guy was no Ben Sheets but he didnt exactly go up there pitching underhanded. its ridiculous to assume we should hit him because we are LSU. totally ridiculous.

This team needs to start hitting better to win consistently yet check the standings. It would be nice to win 2 of 3 this weekend and it would be a nice time to break out of the hitting slump.

if not, its gonna add undue pressure being they gave 2 sunday conference series winners away which are hard to get back.

beyond that, try to educate yourself of teams in the past in almost the exact circumstances if not worse plus injuries yet the outcome was pretty good. does that mean this team will go on a run and win it all? no but it sure as hell makes all 'the sky is falling people' sound ridiculous. there's a medium you need to find.
  10. Re: LSU beats Nichols 3-2, Brandon Nall goes 8.1

I'm not saying the sky is falling. But, the Tigers are a horrible hitting team. The pitching is solid. They got a good effort out of Nall. Faircloth continues to be solid. The bullpen is coming around. But, the offense is not good. Also, I'm a believer in good pitching beats good hitting. Having said that, I think LSU has a great weekend pitching rotation. But, how did they get beat 2 of 3 by Auburn and Bama? They let a team with the second to last overall BA in Bama win 2 of 3? And why is that you ask? B/c the offense cant get the job done. I still think this is a very good team. They are LSU. Enough said. This offense better come around or they will continue to waste good efforts by the pitchers.

Also, the arguement of the look at what happened in the past thing to me is useless. It's not the same people, not the same coach. Different year. The teams they are playing are different. I'm not knocking what your saying Tirk, I like your posts, but I'm respectfully disagreeing.

The team needs to start hitting the ball. But, I dont see them busting out of a slump against the number 1 staff in the conference. We saw what the good pitching last weekend did to them. Aside from that run in game 2, the offense was bad. They need to hit the ball. Not just that, they dont need to scatter hits here and hits there. Get timely hits.
