From the athletic. it’s a pay site so I didn’t post all of the article but wanted to give this assessment of the matchup: 8. LSU Tigers First-round opponent: No. 9 seed St. Bonaventure (Atlantic 10 champion) When: 1:45 p.m. ET Saturday, Assembly Hall (TNT) Record: 18-9 (11-6 SEC) How they got here: “Better late than never” is how coach Will Wade described it after Sunday’s heartbreaking 80-79 loss to Alabama in the SEC title game, featuring two LSU misses at the rim before the horn sounded. That’s a tough way to go out, but this weekend was an intriguing look at how dangerous this team can be. The LSU that upset Arkansas in the semifinals and pushed SEC champ Alabama is not the team that lost twice to Alabama by a combined 48 points. It’s not the team that gave up 91 to Georgia and 82 to Kentucky in double-digit losses. “We put the world on notice,” Trendon Watford said after scoring 30 in the title game, so now let’s see if LSU can carry things over to Indianapolis. What you need to know: This team can be overwhelming offensively, with three stars who can do just about whatever they want on the court, and a strong pick-and-pop four in Darius Day, who shoots almost 40 percent from 3 and averages 7.9 rebounds a game. Days joins do-it-all forward Watford, point guard Javonte Smart and freshman scoring wizard Cameron Thomas (22.6 points per game) in a quartet that few teams around the nation can match. This is a top-five team in terms of offensive efficiency. The problem? It is well below the 100 mark in defensive efficiency. There were some positive signs in that regard in Nashville, especially in the win over Arkansas. But LSU is going to win in this tournament with elite displays of sharing and shooting the ball. Spotlight on: He is easy to forget with Thomas and Watford combining for almost 40 points a game and getting a lot of mock-draft love, but Smart is actually the team’s best long-range shooter (67-of-159, 42.1 percent) and has a knack for making big ones. He carried LSU through stretches of Sunday’s second half before Watford went on a run that nearly delivered LSU’s first SEC tourney title since 1980. At 15.9 points and 4.0 assists per game, Smart runs the team and adds scoring punch, and he has to set the tone defensively. 9. St. Bonaventure Bonnies First-round opponent: No. 8 seed LSU (SEC at-large) When: 1:45 p.m. ET Saturday, Assembly Hall (TNT) Record: 16-4 (11-4 Atlantic 10) How they got here: By winning the Atlantic 10 regular-season and tournament championships. Star point guard Kyle Lofton scored 23 points and Osun Osunniyi scored 14 points with 12 rebounds in the Bonnies’ 74-65 win over VCU on Sunday to clinch the A10 automatic bid. This is their third NCAA Tournament appearance since Mark Schmidt took the job in 2007. What you need to know: On the table here is one of the most experienced groups in the country (every starter is a junior), an excellent coach and a stellar résumé, especially for a mid-major. The Bonnies are a top-25 team, per KenPom, with top-40 offense and defense efficiency ratings. Spotlight on: Lofton is the engine here, leading the Bonnies in points (14.2), assists (5.5) and steals (1.5). Three other guards round out the team’s top-four scoring options: Jaren Holmes, Jalen Adaway and Dominick Welsh. Schmidt goes only six or seven deep with his rotation, but there hasn’t been much reason to deviate from this group, plus the 6-foot-10 Osunniyi around the rim.

Does anyone care what Vitale says or thinks? It's a toss up between him and Walton as to who is the most obnoxious analyst calling college basketball. The mute button is used if I hear either of their voices during a telecast.
