I always liked "The Big House" - you know you have an accomplished program when your house gets the words "Big" and "The" in front of it. The Anaheim Duck's place "The Pond" is a pretty cool idea. Stadiums named after American heros always appealed to me, but they don't make money so they are a thing of the past. Also, the "Louisiana Superdome" is awesome because it instills a sense of pride in the entire state.

The north end zone at the Net is STILL the Black Hole (of course, only during Raider games...)

That name has only really been used since they returned to Oakland in '95...

Talk about a TOUGH place to be an opposing fan...

I once saw AN ENTIRE FAMILY dropping f-bombs on a coupla Broncos fans for virtually the whole game...

...and a # of punches & beers thrown...

...I am NOT a Raider fan but I wouldn't ever wear other gear in that place...

FYI... USL (ULL what ever they are calling it these days) coined their stadium "The Swamp" because it is actually 2 feet under sea level. Not near as intimidating as Florida’s “swamp crowd” but posses a different home field advantage. Ask Texas A&M what it is like to play in a sunken bowl stadium below sea level in South Louisiana heat and humidly. Definitely "Swamp" conditions.

Not to change the subject a little....

But I think The Pyramid in Memphis is a neat name and very
    unique building.

I love it and I don't know if anyone plays there other than the
Grizzlies but this is thier last year in this building!

    I agree, Sourdough...

I 've always wanted to open a bar near there and build it like the famous statue near the Great Pyramids and name it "The Sphinx"...

...the only way you could talk in "the Sphinx" would be in riddles...

"The Big House" is also a euphemism for prison so maybe Arkansas should have a stadium called "The Big House."
