1. is big baby qualified, if not do yall know what his ACT score is,
i saw a replay of the state championship, now that guy is a STAR, hope he dawns the purple and gold next year
  2. Aren't you supposed to be pretty smart to go to University High? I knew a lot of U High students when I was in high school and most of them did pretty well academically in college.
  3. You were supposed to be pretty smart to be able to get into Redemptorist at one time, too, yet when Howard Carter arrived on the LSU campus, you couldn't understand a word he said. Even at that, four years later, he was only marginally better.
  4. '74 RHS grad here...

My brother played on one of the state championship teams with Hi-C @ RHS and you're right - RHS was tough to get into UNLESS you were a stud athlete...

...the same goes for many other private schools nationwide...

...out here in the Bay Area we have the famous DeLaSalle program in Concord that essentially recruits the whole damn state...

    ...and gets some real "student"-athletes...

But my bro was an honors grad anyway...

Speaking of Hi-C it was a shame to see what happened to that guy...

...p*ssed away an NBA career, in trouble with the local gendarmes... :dis:

GMAN - you can say what you will about good ol' RHS but it's STILL the best thing my parents EVER did for me to insure my future success in life...

...and I know many RHS grads that have done well for themselves...

...I am pretty sure that had I gone to Glen Oaks that things might not have been the same...
  5. I'm not knocking it BAT...my Mom is a '63 RHS grad, and my grandparents lived over behind RHS on Lorraine Street for over 40 years. I spent a lot
of time during my formative years on the asphalt basketball courts in the
St. Gerard church parking lot (remember the old chain nets on the hoops?). I'm just citing in Hi-C an example of how sometimes guys like that slip thru the cracks at even the best schools. If you want an example of a pretty
smart kid that came out of RHS to star for LSU, you need look no further
    than Derrick Taylor.
  6. I just watched LSU vs Purdue with Derrick Taylor playing for the tigers yesterday!
  7. No prob, GMAN...

It gave me an opportunity to crack on GOHS. I was going to go there in 7th grade from St. Pius, but I told my parents in late August that I wanted to go to Redemptorist Junior HS...

...they saw it as my wanting a better education and even though they had to pull a few strings to get me in (because it was so late), they have told me that it was for the better...

...after seeing what happened to a few of my friends that went to Glen Oaks...

  10. ...from a GOHS grad. Thanks LSUGRAD00 for proving my point.

...except...what will we do about about Marcus Randall?????
