My shoulders and hips slip out of socket. Never completely dislocated them but it made throwing sidearm from Shortstop difficult by my senior year.
well since this turned into a "What kind of injury have you had" thread.....I broke my neck, had kidney stones twice, and broke my wrist all in a 5 month span back in 1987.
During a wrestling practice, I had a 105 pound guy headbut me & had to get 4 stitches right above my eye lid. Sure, my eye exploding with blood sucked but the worst part was having to tell people the guy who did it was the size of my 10 year old brother.
I dislocated my shoulder skiing (or attempting to) in Colorado a few years ago. And it didn't pop back into socket. The whole arm just hung there...the whole weight of the arm hanging by the stretched and torn muscles, ligaments etc... It was out of the socket for about 45 minutes while they came up the mountain and put me on one of those carts and took me back down the mountain to the clinic. I can't even begin to describe how painful it was while it was out of the socket. Once it was back in it wasn't nearly as bad, but while it was out... Good Lord it hurt! I honestly don't see how some of these athletes go through that kind of pain and then rehab and go out there again. I'm glad they do, but man, I can't imagine having to have that thought in the back of my mind all the time that I could have to go through that again. Anyway, back to AB, an article for the Times-Picayune this morning said he's having surgery and that he was devastated at first, but is doing much better knowing how many players go through this injury. Said Toefield had this surgery twice. I didn't know that. http://www.nola.com/sportsflash/lsu/index.ssf?/base/sports-7/1124378126198910.xml&storylist=lsu_sports
Better yet, the Associated Press must read this site ... they just released an update on Alley and it's posted on The Advocate. :thumb: LSU running back will have surgery BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) -- LSU running back Alley Broussard, who injured his knee at practice Saturday, will have surgery in the next few days, team orthopedic surgeon Brent Bankston said. "We want him to return as close as he can to full motion without pain before the reconstructive surgery," Bankston said. "That helps with recovery. We do that with ACL injuries." Bankston, who was scheduled to see Broussard Wednesday, will do the surgery. "I could see doing the surgery either late this week or early next week," he said. "We're trying to get that swelling down now." Read the rest ... Alley
