Although the GOP (tea party) has taken the correct position here (drastic spending cuts), it's time to get a deal done and let the voters hash it out next year. The Weekly Standard: Obama Vs. Bush On Debt : NPR

Obama has spent alot more than Bush did. Even if you take the 2009 budget and pin it on Bush, with the 2 wars that Bush didn't keep on the books, Obama still is spending more. And that is a problem. The American people spoke with the elections, and they want some spending cuts. Obama is willing to put unspeakables on the table, you know the Voldemort's of our Government. Medicare/Social Security. And he asks for a small tax increase on the wealthiest Americans. He is asking everyone regardless of your social status, to chip in, and tighten their belts. What is wrong with that? What is wrong with going to back to policy that worked? What is wrong with having the people who have benefitted the most from this crisis, and recession, be asked to chip in?

As far as the Obama hates America rhetoric, that is just stupid man. I'm sorry, but it's completely ridiculous. I don't like the guy as President, I think he is a softy that caves to the right way too much, but that's another argument for another thread. I do believe alot of the spending was due to the fact that this country was an economic tanker spiraling off a cliff. But he does take alot of the blame also, simply because he is the guy in the White House.

But I agree with the second part. It's a bit ridiculous to even imply that Obama is a saboteur or is intentionally harming the country. I genuinely believe that most of his ideas are just piss poor. And to further that, I don't even think it's him so much. He's a pussy that can't stand up to Pelosi and Reid for the most part. He cut a deal with Boehner then reneged because twiddle dee and twiddle dum didn't like it.

But I'm with SF here. Let's just get something done. Why can't we close these loopholes and increase the revenue by 1.2 trillion over ten years but provide some amount between 400 billion and 1.2 trillion in job creation tax incentives over the course of the next two years. What's wrong with that? Which side would say no?

You must be smoking rope:insane: You do know that 49% of Americans pay no flopin taxes and he wants to raise taxes on those that are productive and do pay taxes. Everyone chip in my asz. When Obama says that everyone pays taxes , even the 49% that don't now then we ALL would be pitching in. If he made it that everyone had to have skin in the game the liberals would lynch him themselves. That's how they win elections, by buying votes.
