From what I saw, JR was doing just fine with the shorter ('touch') routes. In fact, that's where I drew my above observations from. He also did quite well with those in the CapOne bowl.

I think many of you are putting WAYYYYY to much stock into what you saw in the practice aired on ESPN.... all you saw was JR throw a few passes and you are saying he seems to be having "trouble"? He was throwing redzone fades which is probably the hardest pass to complete as you are pretty much throwing into double coverage (defender & out of bounds). You say he is having trouble on the short passes? give me a break,,,, anyone who says they got anything about the QB race out of that practice is crazy.

I think all the QB's are gonna play. Just in mop up duty after our starter (JR) tears it up.

If you really think that Flynn or RP is going to start a game, then you must also believe that we're going to lose an early season game and JR struggles big time. It is JR's job to lose. Everything else is coachspeak. Open your eyes.

This is false. Jimbo has been very happy with JR's accuracy during fall camp. All three QB's have made progress.... Flynn has continued to impress.

RP gets very few snaps with the first team, but has picked up on the offense very well for a true freshman. I believe he will be ready if called upon. Let's hope this isn't the case...... RP is the solid 3rd string QB as of today.

Casey (msclair) is going solely off of what he saw on ESPN..... just because JR threw a few incompletions on the fades does not mean he "is having trouble"

    Can't disagree more.

I think if RP sees the field this year, it means one of two things:

    a. at least one injury (more than likely serious); or
    b. JR and MF, in their third year of Fisher's offense, aren't getting the job done

These two scenarios mean bad news for Tiger fans: RP has to burn a redshirt because we are desperate.

I will really question Miles's judgement if he throws RP in there when we're up just to get him some reps.

IF RP becomes our starter, as some of you have suggested, we can forget about Pasadena in January. There is no way a freshman QB leads us to the NC, I don't care how good he is.

Why would you question Miles judgement to get RP some reps? RP is not burning a redshirt because we are desperate. RP is burning a redshirt because Miles wants THREE quarterbacks able to play & as long as he isn't redshirting, you might as well use him when we are up.

If RP sees the field, it indicates neither of the 2 things you mentioned (although they are possabilities). It means that Miles wanted to get RP some reps, or wanted to showcase something different to the opposing defense that they haven't game planed for.

If RP becomes our starter, it will be because he earned it over 2 fine quarterbacks, & the coaching staff would believe he gave us the greatest chance of getting to Pasadena.

I believe Miles' quote said that he wanted three quarterbacks able to play. I don't remember exactly. Either way, it didn't say that 3 would play - just that he wanted the option in case of injuries or whatever.

I don't pretend to know whether RP will play as a true freshmen or not, but I do pay attention to his quotes & have made opinions based on that.
