If the grand jury reduces your crime to basically a ticket, there is absolutely no way in hell there was enough evidence to convict in a court of law. The standards in a grand jury are much, much less stringent than "beyond a reasonable doubt".

JJ pled guilty to the misdemeanor so the BRPD could save face and in return he was probably promised that matter would be dropped altogether. Grand Jury cases are kept confidential, so we'll never really know.

JJ hasn't pled guilty to anything. The Grand Jury found probable cause for a misdemeanor. So far, that's it.

Simple rape has a maximum sentence of 25 years. This is a serious charge, and not equivalent to a ticket. He is not charged with forcible or aggravated rape.
