Johnson: “I told our guys they needed to go down there and honor them by standing there for their alma mater. You got to have a lot of respect for what they do. They’re going to serve and protect our country. It’s disappointing that we lost the game but it was the right thing to do.” Air Force Coach Troy Calhoun: “How do you not tip your cap to these (Georgia Tech) guys? It’s not required, it’s not an obligation. It’s not that it’s something that they expect … that means a lot to them (Air Force players).” Too often we’re more concerned with our rights than our obligations. What Tech did should be added to the latter.
Paul Johnson is a good make that a great guy. He had a fabulous record at Navy with non-NFL talent. He has gotten GA TECH in the headlines in only a couple of years. His system is complex and he needs student athletes, not just athletes to master it. Good on you, Paul. HWR USNA 1974
