BATON ROUGE -- When LSU left Oxford, Miss., with a big victory against Ole Miss, it also left behind perhaps the most hostile visiting environment in Nick Saban's four years.

Some say it went beyond hostile. Two African-American LSU players on Monday said white Ole Miss players directed racial epithets at them during the game.

Tigers defensive tackle Chad Lavalais said Rebels players "called me the N-word" and that he had to restrain himself from going after one player as the teams left the field. Lavalais declined to name the players. "I'm glad I don't have to go back to that stadium any more," he said.

LSU defensive end Marcus Spears backed up Lavalais' assertion, but said it was not widespread among the Rebels. "It's unfortunate in some areas it's still the same and some people haven't moved past that," Spears said. "You just move on. It's not anything that affects you a lot.

"It kind of gets to you in the game, though. Some of the white guys on their team said, 'Great game, man, you're a good player.' It's one of those things where it's very few like that. You have to look past it."

Ole Miss officials said they are unaware of any incidents of racial epithets being used, but said none would be tolerated.

"The alleged language that has been described is offensive and completely unacceptable and is never tolerated," said Ole Miss coach David Cutcliffe through sports information director Langston Rogers. "We have too much respect for all people, including our opponents, than to insult them. Anyone representing Ole Miss who could be identified using such insulting language will be disciplined."

LSU offensive tackle Rodney Reed said the scene on the bus ride in and out was "the worst I've ever seen. We got flipped off 150 times, from little kids to old people," Reed said.

Saban said he's never seen the hand gesture "flashed" at his team so many times.

Oh yeah, like Baton Rouge is some welcoming oasis for Rebel fans when we have to go down there.

Sounds to me like you guys can dish it out, but can't take it.

Now, run along little Tigers and beat UGA!
