Quick question on our new receivers coach. I know he has ties with Saban from Michigan State, etc. but does anyone know if he has any particular affinity/track record for coaching receivers or is it more of the case where Saban thinks he is good coach that you can plug into the system and he takes care of business? I've never really followed Big Ten so I'm really unfamiliar with the his history as a coach. Any info would be appreciated! :geaux:
http://tigerforums.com/showthread.php?t=13643&highlight=bobby+williams He coached receivers for Detroit in the 2003 football season. Prior to that, he coached running backs and receivers at MSU, turning out notable NFL stars Plaxico Burress and Charles Rogers. Check out this board's threads on him when he was hired earlier in the year.
Here is a list of receivers that Williams has coached that were taken in the NFL draft, and that takes place in the run-oriented Big 10. Charles Rogers - 2003 Herb Haygood - 2002 Gari Scott - 2000 Plaxico Burress - 2000 Nigea Carter - 1997 Derrick Mason - 1997 Muhsin Muhammad - 1996 Courtney Hawkins - 1992
Offensive Coordinator? Does anybody else have a hunch that Coach Williams might replace Jimbo as Offensive Coordinator if/when Jimbo leaves LSU to take a HC job?
Just as long as he doesn't become head coach if/when Coach Saban leaves. His record at MSU was no fluke.
