1. The way it is structured for CNS is if the team's average is in the top half of the SEC.

•$75,000 for playing in the Southeastern Conference championship game, plus another $50,000 for winning the title.

•$65,000-$90,000 for playing in a non-BCS bowl game, depending on the prominence of the game and $125,000 for playing in a BCS game. He would make $200,000 for playing in the BCS title game and $400,000 if he wins.

•$25,000 for being named SEC coach of the year and twice that for national coach of the year honors.

•$50,000 if the Tide's graduation rate ranks in the top half of the SEC, $100,000 if that rate is in the top 25%.

•A country club membership, two cars, a luxury box at Bryant-Denny Stadium along with 12 tickets and up to 25 hours of yearly flight time for personal travel in a non-commercial plane.

    Back to the subject.

With Weiss getting 4 million a year with another 7 left on his 10 year deal, I wonder what his buyout was? It seems like I remember Willingham getting a mil plus.
  2. Re: Coaches' Buy Out clauses

that seems low. didnt we and/or dinardo have to pay vandy $400k
  3. Re: Coaches' Buy Out clauses

Dinardo paid his own buyout. As Terry said, large buyouts will not keep a coach from leaving for an even more profitable job. Many schools are trying incentives like big annuities for staying five years. Of course, Nick had a huge one at LSU that he walked away from.

I think the $500,000 buyout is not to keep a coach from leaving, but to help LSU off the assistant coaches that they will also have to let go.
  4. Not sure.

Here's where the "Buyout" originated though:

In the article, written in 2000, how prophetic for them to say:

Not that there's ever a "Guarantee", and not picking on Bama, though you know with hiring a big name coach, most "Fans" associated with any given program, do believe that.

  5. The USA Today article you provided as a link dated November 2006 says his UM buyout is $1.25 million. I wonder if his contract has been reworked since then and the clause dropped.
  6. Re: Coaches' Buy Out clauses

I did too and really don't follow the contract thing too closely but from the little I have, it seems LSU is very fair.

We didn't impose the "Buyout" on Pokey's and allowed her to continue drawing her salary and her bonus for the team making the final four........or maybe we were trying to give her a lolipop since there were questions surrounding her release- and, again, I have no knowledge of the "Inside" story on that situation and don't recall what I'd read.
  7. The last I heard he and Foley were still working out the specifics.

    Great link tiga! Thanks.

That's a great point Red. When we fired Price, the only thing the school ended up having to deal with were his two sons. Their contract called for a year, if I recall correctly, and basically they were given Admin jobs until they found further employment.

That was so short lived I can't recall the specific details of it. Maybe Bayou can.
  8. Who is Foley?
  9. buyouts dont mean a thing. his new employer will pay for it one way or another.

  10. Jeremy Foley is the Athletic Director at UF. FWIW, on the trivia side of things, he's the only Div. 1 Ath. Dir. in history to have seen his dept. win 2 titles in both B-ball and football.
