Congratulations on a fine game played by the LSU team Saturday night. We (WVU) made several mistakes early in the game and LSU did what a great team does, they made us pay for them. You played a solid mistake free game and the final score showed that. You all have a very solid team in all positions and lots of young talent that will carry you into the future. Good luck in your SEC games, hope you have a great season. Gerald C
Nice post. Thanks and to you as well. I think "mistake free" may be stretching it a bit for LSU, and I think everyone here would tend to agree. Can you explain the whole "burning couch" thing?
And what "mistakes" WV made. Don't want to piss on a nice intentions but I was just wondering. I hope you're not talking about the turnovers we CAUSED. Thanks for the kind words though and very classy. Best of luck the rest of the way.
Thanks Gerald Ya, mistake free would have been more like 59-14. I am not complaining, I'll take the win. But I am still kind of bummed about the dropped passes, dropped interceptions, and missed tackles. If RR caught that pass, 34-7 LSU early in the 3rd and Lee passes for 200+ yards and 4 touchdowns. That stat would be blasted all over ESPN as opposed to the 530 yards we gave up. Regardless, in the minds of the media, Bama will always be better. Phuck Em! Our mistakes and the burning couch thing The mistakes I was referring to was ill advised passes, short punts and letting a guy return a 99 yard kick off return for a touchdown. Special teams have been a question mark for us for years, was hoping that might change this year. Hard hitting and good athletes caused the early fumble and the great kick off return as you noted. The couch burning thing.....this is just my opinion, not an official answer. In most of rural WV we like to have a fire on Friday and or Saturday night. Sit around it with friends listening to the local football/ basketball game and drink a few beverages of your choice. Oak and Hickory are the main choices to burn for these events. Morgantown doesn't have a wood supply on every corner so I think at some point the kids decided to improvise, probably with the help of a few alcoholic beverages, and a tradition was started.
We dropped a TD in the endzone that would have ended this game midway through the 3rd quarter. And then missed the FG to add salt to the wound.
I think it is great. If you did that out here on the left coast, you'd send people into a total tizzy and people would be demanding that you be arrested, jailed, and your kids taken away from you. You are a good sport. Thanks.
Wasn't that our opening possession. Talk about a huge swing. Instead of 34-7 it turned into 27-14 after they scored on their next poss. Crowd came alive and I had flashbacks to Tennessee in 05.
