I was wondering what part of St. Tammany. I'm at St. Tammany Parish Hospital in Covington right now "working".

Also, if you can't check your email, your browser might be hijacked. You should clear your cache, cookies etc. Or you could try downloading a new browser like Firefox.

Covington. I have spent like $125 on computer guys trying to clean out my computer. I have something called about:blank in my system and they can't get it out. My browser has definitely been hijacked.

Try downloading Firefox. Could be an easy and free fix. If you spent money on some body that runs there own business... a lot of those guys don't know s#*%. Its just an easy way to sucker into duping lots of money. Most of their "clients" have no idea what they themselves are doing and much less wether the guy knows what he's doing.

You have an ugly spyware/malware and possibly some kind of trojan on your computer. You need spybot, adaware and thourough virus scan. Plus go look for something called "highjack this". Nice softare for browser highjacks.

"about:blank" is just an optional homepage setting for Internet Explorer. It does not necessarily mean that something is wrong. When setting your IE homepage to "about:blank", IE will load a little faster because it doesn't try to load a webpage as it loads itself. "about:blank" is basically just a blank page on your computer, nothing more.

It sounds to me like your homepage is set to "about:blank". To check:

    1. Click Tools in the Internet Explorer menu.
    2. Click Internet Options
    3. Under the General Tab, you should see a section for homepage.
    a. check to see if your homepage is set to "about:blank"
    b. if so change it to whatever you wish.

if after changing your homepage, you still have the same problem, your browser may have been hijacked. Thus it won't allow you to change it without deleting the hijacking file or files.

if this is the case, I have found that ad aware will delete some but not all hijackers.

CWshredder, or Hijackthis (my favorite) are other hijacker removing programs you can download and run. They are relatively small and simple to use.

You could also do a search on google for hijacker removers.

If you need more help just let me know.

I know. Tried them all. Nothing works. Will have to erase my hard drive. Have a serious browser highjacker that is "deeply imbedded".

I've been there done that. One thing is for sure. For a few hundred bucks you can get a second hard drive that once a week, or whatever your activity is, download your pics or any docs you created or updated. Put them on the 2nd hard drive via USB and if you ever have to reload windows you can then get your stuff back on the computer and all you would have lost is a week or so of stuff.

Just remember to scan and make sure all is well before downloading to the back up hard drive.

Spysweeper is suppose to be a good realtime piece of hardware for less than 25 bucks a year.

I had this same problem on my laptop from work. They ultimately had to save all of my personal and work files to another drive and re-image my entire hard drive! That little "about:blank" bug just didn't want to go away!

    Good luck and Boomer Sooner!
