It is without a doubt the best "affordable" bourbon for the working man that I've ever had. That bottle probably cost $60-$70 and its worth every penny, as long as they only mix it with ice.

I wouldn't think of mixing good whisky with Coke or even water. I'm not tiga.

Yep, neat or a cube is what you do. Tons of great bourbons between 30 and 60 too. Costco also has a nice selection. I got this one at Elios in New Orleans.

I'm more of a scotch drinker than boubon. That said, I went to the Chimes Monday for some half priced oysters. Ordered a double Johnnie Walker Black w/ an ice ball. Went down really good, so ordered another. Got the bill, $36 for the 2 drinks! Chimes is proud of their damn liquor!

I've heard that it's not good to mixed hard liquor with oysters. Something about the booze affecting the oysters.

Never heard that. I do it all the time. What sort of affect are you talking about?

On a side note, 2 weeks ago, the oysters there were the best I have had in at least a year. Perfect saltiness, size, etc. The ones Monday were very bland and, for the most part, way too big. One of them was the size of a small hamburger patty. I had to put salt on all of them. Maybe all of the rain lately has messed up salinity levels where they are getting them from.

maybe because you get an aphrodisiac and whiskey dick at the same time....that might just kill you

I miss Giamanco's on Government St. Their oyster were always perfect. And you could either make your own sauce with ketchup and horseradish and stuff or pay a little extra for their special blend sauce. It was worth paying extra for.

I went to Albertsons a few minutes ago. No Blanton's. The guy said they haven't gotten any in 2 years. He said it's because they are making it and it hasn't aged enough yet. Ended up buying Jack Daniels.
