Never tried Japanese food but I like Chinese. I've seen a menu from a Japanese restaurant and I have no idea what any of that stuff is. I used to watch The Iron Chef and one time one of the chefs made trout ice cream.

Sushi is a guilty pleasure I don't even pretend to hide from. If I don't drop a hundo, I didn't like it. I have my standards though. I will never eat sushi that is pre made. I typically pick the fish from which it will be cut and I always sit at the bar. If a seat is not available, I know I'm in the right place and will be glad to wait. Rookie mistake in a new joint, but a sure sign of things to come.
