I switched to Cricket Wireless last week. 20 gigs of data for $55. Only thing is that hotspots with GSM phones aren't supported by Cricket at this time. Does anybody know of an app or a workaround for this? If I can't use my phone as a hotspot I'll drop my plan down to 2 1/2 gigs and only pay $35 a month.

Just checked. 3.57 down, 1.16 up, 4.04 down, 1.10 up from server in Gonzales ((I'm in BR) Again - 3.92 down, 1.09 up, same Eatel server. Sometimes OOKLA locks onto servers in Hammond, Lafayette or Houston

Turn off your WiFi if it's on.

But I assumed that's theirs because Att capped their data speeds and I think that's what it said mine would be.

Did it with wifi off. I keep wifi and data turned off unless I am using data so as not to drain my battery so fast. Seems faster than T Mobile. On Feb. 24th I got 2.62, 0.86 with T Mobile data. Just did it with wifi and got 5.32 and 2.44 from Suddenlink server in Lake Charles. I don't know who the provider is for the place where I'm at right now. Was eating lunch at the new Schlotzky's on Essen.

Not sure if I asked the right question. I have never used a hotspot but I bought a tablet and I want to create a wifi connection with my phone for a data source for the tablet when I'n not at home or near a wifi connection. I didn't try it with T Mobile because I only got 1 gig of data before they throttled me.

Thanks. Do I need to install it on both my phone and tablet or just the phone?

Got the app and I was able to connect my tablet to the phone but it still isn't working as far as being on the internet like a regular WiFi. Can't get anywhere with browser. Same thing with Bluetooth. The guy at the Cricket store said that Cricket doesn't as yet support hotspots. I found out that they did when their phones were on CDMA. I am using an unlocked GSM phone.
