1. Using 2011 NCAA Men's Baseball RPI, the remaining teams that had a higher RPI than LSU were all regional hosts and/or conference winners.

1 - North Carolina, regional host (clinched final 8)
2 - Virginia, regional host, conference winner
3 - Florida, regional host, conference winner
4 - Vanderbilt, regional host (clinched final 8)
5 - Florida State, regional host
6 - South Carolina, regional host
9 - Arizona State, regional host
10 - Texas A&M, regional host, conference winner
    12 - Texas, regional host

    25 - LSU

    30 - Mississippi State
    43 - Dallas Baptist
    43 - UC Irvine
    45 - California
    48 - Connecticut
  2. So the at large teams (LSU would have been one) are all gone.
  3. MSU got down 4-0 early, but just took the lead 6-4. Great game on ESPN...
  4. Gators got tired of messing around with them. Big mistake by Cohen to pitch his closer after 82 pitches yesterday.
Like Ott in 2010...let the closers be closers.
  5. Wow. Cal-Irvine blew it. Up one on UVA, 2 out, nobody on, bottom 9, then a hit, a walk, a hit off the pitcher's foot to load 'em up and a 2 run single. Man, that was a great finish. That may not have been the exact order of things but it was fun to watch.
  6. I really thought Irvine had it, that was a great finish. Aggies just blew a bases loaded opportunity to add to their 8-1 lead on Florida State in the 4th, but they do look to be headed to Omaha.
  7. great fun!

was sorry to see cal beat little upstart independent dallas baptist. i love the parity in college baseball, and seeing one of the little guys make a run at the title. (unless they are playing lsu.) at the least, this should give db a little street cred for scheduling.
  8. It was hard for me to pull for either one there.
