Coach O needs to keep his damn mouth shut until the ink is on the paper. What will the next group of DC candidates be thinking?

No doubt would be easier if people with microphones didn't keep demanding information.

That’s really surprising to me. Thought the money we could offer would be significantly greater than the Saints. This shows Payton did really want Nielsen to stay. Seemed less of a stonewall than it was a tactic to slow him to retain Nielsen through negotiation, which is actually respectable.

No doubt Payton wanted him to stay. But Im sure it boiled down to legal battles and burnin NFL bridges. ...an offer he can't refuse.

Hearing he got a $ raise and title of assistant head coach. If Saints wanted to keep him that badly, it at least validates Oeaux’s selection. But It still sucks that we lost out.

why didn't woodward know about the existing contract and understand this could be a problem before today? too many statements about 1st choice, etc. when mouths should be shut..... becoming an embarrassment....

Interesting, though, that the journalists are all saying that his decision wasn’t based on him not wanting to come to LSU. Not sure exactly what that means, but maybe the Saints new deal was like consolation.
