I'm not too sure I liked what the defense was doing. There were no blitzes whatsoever, the 4 DL's didn't really get penetration till the last UF drive. It was like they didn't want to rush hard but just sit and let the secondary do the work and if he scrambles they can jump on him.

I think Pelini knew UF wasn't going to run Tebow like the AU game so he wanted to play for the pass. I don't think this scheme will be used throughout the whole game again if we play them for the SECCG. It's quite obvious a DL isn't going to tackle him in the open field so I say bring the ends around the outside and the tackles up the middle. They were giving Tebow time to throw the quick timing passes which ate us up in the 1st half. Then in the 3rd they were taking advantage of the 4 DL's and ran up the gut on us steadily.

I really wasn't worried about the defense initially but was worried about the offense. Now if we play again, I will be worried about the defense. Dorsey was a none factor till the end on the last UF drive.

We just beat the best offensive line and quarterback that we will have to face this year. Relax.

And there were a lot of blitzes. Florida picked some of them up and Tebone scrambled out of some. They are a very good offense.

We beat the second most talented team in the nation playing at the top of their game. An offense that, in arguably the most hostile environment in the history of college football, had zero false starts, zero holding penalties, zero delay-of-game penalties, and zero blocking breakdowns.

The Gators played desperately, and near flawlessly. That's why they cried their eyes out after the game.

Don't worry about the LSU D. The scheme will change for the rematch in December. But a great Gator offense may be equal to the task yet again.

    Expect another classic. :eek:ldskule:

well, i've said many times that the spread option is very hard to defend if run by the right personnel and that team is clicking on all cylinders. florida got 3 TD's, (one very easy one by us selling out for a screen, i thought it was the equivalent of UGA's long TD against us in '03 in death valley)

but i think the most important thing about the D was that in the 4th quarter when they were the most tired they forced a 3 and out and 2 turnovers not including the last drive where we batted down the final pass.

you have to think that really good offenses (no mattter how good the D is) are going to put up 20-27 pts. it's up to our D, offense and special teams to put up more. also remember that colt david left 6 pts off the board. making his fg's would've made it a different game.

but i actually liked the way it turned out just fine.:thumb:

I agree with RED55 on this one...I dont think theres another SEC school on the schedule with the firepower Fla has. That being said, I sure will be glad when the LA Tech game rolls around though. Whew!!!!!!!!

    Not for lack of trying.

Seriously, though, Florida has one of the nation's best offenses, and they played one hell of a game. They did not deserve to fall as much as they did in the polls, and they are a two loss team that's way better than some of those still undefeated.

I agree with you guys, the D did a good job with the schemes that were being run. I think it could've been better.

There were very few blitzes, I could count them on one hand. There were essentially none in the first half. If you watched the DL, they didn't attack the line and made no penetration at all till the end of the game.

Now I'm not saying I'm disappointed but I think it was a scheme that would allow UF to have the 10 yard plays. It was a scheme that doesn't attack. The OL for UF played well but the DL for LSU was stood up and made no penetration.

Maybe Pelini wanted to cover the pass and drop the LB's back into coverage a lot and had the DL not really push and penetrate so that Tebow wouldn't scramble. Sort of make Tebow feel like he had time to pass the ball and put game in the hands of the secondary.
